What it is
Made of rubber and metal, oil seals prevent leakage of oil in gearboxes and grease in wheels and engines. Usually fitted on a shaft after the corresponding bearing is mounted, they hold back abrasive and corrosive moisture and stop harmful contaminants from entering the machinery, especially in severe environments.
