What it is
Pillow blocks are mounted plain or roller bearing units that support rotating shafts, with the mounting surface on a line parallel to the shaft axis. The housing comes with the bearing already fitted, so there is no need to buy the bearing separately. They are typically used in cleaner environments and lighter-load general industrial applications. Many are pre-engineered to be self-lubricating, with a reservoir to store lubricant for smooth running. The outer ring stays stationary while the inner ring rotates.
